No-one is rubbishing Kennedy - its just the notion of slaughtering him in ruck like St. Kilda did to Justin Kositske, that worries me.

Let Kennedy play at CHF (ocassionally pinch hitting in the ruck when the ball is up forward).

I dont want Kennedy crucified in the ruck because at 198cm he is the tallest player on our list.

Give him a few more pre-seasons and let him establish himself at CHF - before we throw him in the Ruck.

Have we not watched Kossy deteriorate at a rate of knots through being made to ruck without the correct build?

Vote 1 Deano and Agro for Match Committee. :P

One of the tallest. ;)

I agree with exactly what you're saying about waiting.

But all this talk about Kosi is just irrational fear. What hits to the head caused Kosi's skull to fracture so easily?

Kosi probably comes up very short on the bone-density tests. That's his issue, not Kennedy's. Would also just like to note at no stage am I suggesting he should ever be a full time ruckman.

i agree jimmae. Kennedy , with tuition, could be a good rucken when the ball is in the forward line. We dont want him motoring all over the place though.

Why dont we just recruit a real ruckman....there's an idea......
Why must we continue to cheat with undersized or out of position players.....
reminds me of Trent Hotton and Andrew Merrington....lets make ruckman out of of them or how about we redraft Prenda and let him ruck.....get a real ruckman and let Kennedy play CHF....

Sorry Agro.
I should have realised that it was a back handed compliment.
Amazing that we are paying that salesman $650k a season to be a coach...

But that's just the point, would he really be out of position if we used him as a ruck option? What defines his suited position for you?

I'd be interested to know how Kennedy's arm span stacks up with some of the premier rucks in the comp. I think he can play a Kosi-type role and not collapse in a heap like everyone thinks.

Of course we're going to draft a ruckman at some point. Of course he's never going to be the primary option. Of course there's a risk of injury... I mean hell it's going to be sooooo much worse than playing as a bash and crash CHF.

He's worth a try down the track and he has a record of being a profficient ruckman at junior level.

i am not advocating for him to follow the ball, as per my comment, but if he is in the vacinity why cant he contribute.

Do you need to have ruckman tattoed on your forhead to be able to do the job FFS?

Not every player is going to be in the same circumstances as Kosi or do you have a problem with everyone helping out where they reasonably can?

Kennedy was recruited as a CHF IMHO and is an asset we need to look after for the future.....if he bombs as a player then we are back to square one for KPP forwards...so much depends on him.
I dont recall Carey, Kernahan, Tredrae being used in the ruck......the idea was to get a proper ruckman, proper CHF and have them play in their rightful roles.....
I dont have a problem with Kennedy doing the odd bit of ruckwork down forward but I dont like the idea of my very valuable CHF being used in a Kosi style around the ground and becoming a injury prone croc....
Stkilda couldnt be bothered recruiting a decent ruckman or decent rookie ruckman and tried to cheat with Kosi and I think we have to learn from that....

Where did I once say around the ground. It is clearly spelt out ala the word vacinity in my post.

He's lumping you in with my comments. Sorry. :?

I don't see how protecting him from injury can be done by keeping him out of the ruck and dropping him at CHF...

If Kennedy played ruck right up until U18s, then what's to say that's he's not very capable in a part time role?

If he's no good at it - stick him at CHF permanently. But with that on his record, he has to be worth a crack for the sake of versatility. Between him and Setanta, we could go into games with just the one ruckman and carry an extra runner.

First we've got to find out his bone density and his arm span.

Until then this is all meaningless conjecture.

ok, maybe throw in his vertical leap.

Don't forget height at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. He may be able to ruck in the earlier games, but not in the later ones.

If Kennedy is used in the ruck, I'll be livid.

He is a KP forward. Since Kernahan, and to a lesser extent the Lance Golden Years, we have been crying out for a genuine centre half forward. Now that we have one, people on here want to chuck him in the ruck and destroy his body.

Stupidity. Absolute stupidity.

I'm with Elwood. How about for once, just once, we actually recruit a ruckman, a genuine ruckman, and play him in the ruck?
