You know... when some people are happy to sit back cross their fingers and assume everything is going just dandy... you just know its a recipe for disaster.
i hope people can see whats looming if we stick our heads in the sand or just are content to sit back and hope for the best...
better get involved come election day... because right now all clubs resources are being used to shore up the power of the existing heirarchy and there is little energy going into anything else...
When the time comes and if you are feeling unsatisfied with where this club stands right at this minute and where this club is heading .. i would urge you to make an effort... vote... and make sure your friends vote.
We just cant sit back and hope for the best when really the wallapaper is falling off and the walls are tumbling down.
Smorgon and Co are a disgrace... what this club has built in 130 odd years is collapsing in the hands of a the people who have run this club over the last 10.
Smorgon is more dangerous than them all because he doesnt understand what a football club is.. he is treating it as his own personal toy without the passion Elliot had for the club and a toy he doesnt want to spend money on himself.
Its purely selfishness in my opinion and its affecting me personally.
I want to know what will he do when the AFL call him for their 1.5 million dollars at the end of next year???.... will he ask for more good money to go after bad???
I want to know how he feels sleeping at nights when noone wants to invest money in the club while he is around....
I wanna know how he feels that Mathieson left the board when he was going to hand over the running of TWO money making pokies venues that would have netted the club one million dollars a year but he had no faith in Smorgon.
I wanna know where Smorgon thinks he is taking this club
There are alot of things i want to know.... but most importantly i want to know where smorgons pride is... does the man understand what the Carlton Football Club really is????
The pokies point is a really interesting one.
AFAIK this offer has been known about for months now but it now looks like it is off the table.
A boost in revenue year on year of $1M would be fantastic for the club and get the club on it's way to growing from a $20m business to a $30M+ business.
Not sure why such an offer would be ignored. Surely Bruce Matheison was not putting any unrealistic conditions on it. If it was just a clash of perosnalities/politics then that is really sad and a great loss for the club.
