Had Lance only been out with Scotland, I would say this is a non issue for him in his captaincy ambitions BUT he had other young players with him, which showed an incredible lack of leadership.

I'm sure his wife is pleased that he was out so late while she was at home with the kids.

Walker for Captain!

Depends which way you're looking at it. I'm glad that Lance was out looking after some of our new kids. Situation may have been even worse if there wasn't a cool head to get everyone in a taxi and out of the trouble spot.

The kids had already gone home before the incident occurred. It was just Lance and Scotland by that time.

I don't think you can pull any positives for Lance out of this.

Are you sure? I wasn't aware that the others had gone home. If they had...you can't say it was a lack of leadership having them out that late

They were still out past curfew. And have been fined.

Lance was the senior team member in that situation and should have made sure they went home before curfew, and he should have gone along with them.

Still very poor leadership.

I've never been a fan and have often critisized those who think that Heath Scotland had a great year last year. Based on stats - it was impressive - but stats aren't what they used to be and for the majority of the year he was unaccountable and indecisive with his football.

Heath was brought into the Carlton leadership group last year - for the simple purpose of it being another 'stat' that his lawyer could mention. Clever lawyer that - stated that his client had a desire to become a firefighter with the MFB after his football career - of course... ...you can't be one if you have a criminal record!

His latest misadventure is one that is still being investigated - and for his sake and the clubs, you'd hope that he doesn't have a case to answer...but with a couple of incidents hanging over his head, you'd think that being out at 5am in mid February would be the last thing he'd be thinking...obviously Heath doesn't think too much.

I'm proposing something similar to what Geelong are doing with Steve Johnson. The guy is a fruitloop and has talent to burn, but is only NOW starting to realise that this is it...if he doesn't lift his game - he'll be out on his arse...it's a befitting punishment, and the only one that seems to hit home with these guys.

Heath Scotland is not an integral part of this football side. His punishment should be to miss the opening NAB Cup game. It should also be to be kicked out of the leadership group. You cannot be a leader on field if your indiscretions off field are setting a poor example. Carlton need to wash its hands of Heath Scotland if this one ends back up in court. No more favours like last time..you're on your own Heath...shape up or ship out.

I agree with this, guys like Grigg and Jameson need to be shown the responsibility that comes with being a leader at the club. But the punishments should be personal and not be to the detriment of the team, to go down the Steve Johnson path would hurt the team's chance of winning, we're not in a position to lose senior players who contribute on a consistant basis.

No excuses...

We are a joke of a club to have our "leaders" setting such a fine example to the young guys by hanging out late and drinking a couple weeks before the season starts.

We have no desire to succeed if that's how seriously we treat the game, and Pagan coming out and saying "well nobody's perfect" is condoning it.

Those guys involved that are in the leadership group should be expelled from it for starters becasue they are no sort of leader.

Sorry, but you need standards and ours are non-existant.

Yes, we don't know all the details, yet Scotland and Whitnall immediately hold a presser to apologise for their behaviour...because you'd do that for no reason...

Gotta love Lance's defensive position:

1. He didn't have a watch on - which, no doubt, would have help him know whether it was AM or PM...

2. He didn't drink and drive - which was really lucky because he clearly might have run the woman over after Health hit her...

Thank God, Lance was "in charge"!!

[ducks]

That's an opinion that only some Carlton supporters share. No one rates Heath Scotland outside of a few hundred Carlton fans. I'm one who doesn't rate him.

You have to love the part where they mention she has a young son. So what are her and her partner doing out at 5am?

I Wonder what you whiners would have done with Carey back in 94'?

I agree TG. It's BS - all these threads on how divisive the board and player/coach have been and yet we're tearing eachother apart over an absolute non-issue that we don't even know the facts about.

If Lance's biggest crime during his 10 year career is to be out after curfew then let's nominate him for the hall of fame right now!!

It's a good thing Lance's missus is home to take care of his kids.

Serious fine.... Life-time probation.... Removed from Captaincy for the season.

Hey, I've been guilty of similar to worse (without the belting of some slapper), but nobody knows who the @#$%&! I am. Part of me is sympathetic, but the majority can not believe that in this day and age, any AFL player could be that stupid.

Dead-shits don't beconme captains of footy clubs looking at revival. If you can't string a sentence together without ending it with "yeah" or "hay", then you are not captain material. just like those 'leaders' who think every motivational speech has to have at least a dozen f-bombs or mention 'killing' the opposition. That shit is for under 16s not the elite. The elite are finely tuned athletic machines who devour tactics and run game-plans to the letter. If you can't motivate a group of men without getting the adrenalin pumping, then you need not apply for the top job.

Sean Og for captain.

You are missing the point Duke.

It's not a question of whether it was Lance or Jack Shite.

A flowering moron knows, not to be out drinking at that time of the morning because you will get pinged by some flower. Whether the couple started it or not is irrelevant.

Why allow yourself to get into that situation?

It has happened so many flowering time yet the players JUST DON'T SEEM TO GET IT!

The reason why Lance should not be captain is because he's too stupid if he didn't realise that it was dumb being out that late.

Walker for Captain!

The boys have 2 months holidays to go out and get hammered until 5. Mid Feb doesn't fall within those 2 months.

I've no beef with Lance and the others...fine is appropriate.

Scotland on the other hand....HOW MANY LIVES DOES HE GET?

Whether she is trailer trash or not...if he's punched her - he has a problem and I have a problem with him being a playing member of the Carlton Football Club as do others with a higher jurisdiction than I - if this one goes to court - he's gone.
