There was talk before the game that Kouta was a bit crook I think but I don't know how serious it was...
Apparently the Swans were expecting Kouta not to play, at least that's what was said on the TV call. They didn't shed any concrete light on what was wrong with Kouta, but at the time the comments were made he was on the bench having one of his wrists worked on.
Bryan, great debut, great kick, woof, woof!
Our tackling was actually pretty good. Yes, the yellow urinal cakes stuffed up a lot of calls when Swans players continually ducked their heads, but in truth a couple of those were 50/50 calls I'd say. Mind Livo and McGrath put in some superb tackles deep in defence. McGrath's in the third quarter should have been rewarded but the men in charge were too busy getting pissed on.
Carrots, I hope some of his detractors were watching him closely, some of his delivery by foot running from defence was superb. He'll be around for a few years yet.
Waite, the Panther, showed us again some of his sublime skills.
Walker, good in a way for him to get a run on a lesser light this week to help relieve pressure from last week's big scalp. He's a bit like Luke Hodge I reckon. Once he gets a bit of experience under his belt he'll reward us for years on end.
Lance, did some really clever things today, not the least kicking 5 goals. Consistency?
Fev, I take 7dominator's comments on board, and he's right, however, there are tangible signs that Fevola is improving and there's little doubt that we need a guy like him contributing. Like I said last week, we need two of him, one to mark inside 50 and one to kick it inside 50. (Anyone know how he's finished up after the game after appearing to twinge his groin in the 3rd quarter?)
Tbird, might not have had one of his best days in the jumper, but I just love this bloke. All class.
All in all a pretty good team effort with little influenece from the likes of Stevens, Kouta, Houla or Campo showing that our kids will take us places when it's their time to shine.
